Summary
Canal automation refers to
a closed-loop control in which a gate or pump changes its
position or running speed in response to a measured water
level, flow rate, or pressure because that level, rate, or
pressure is different than the intended target value.
This report provides a clarification of theoretical
principles behind canal automation, as well as what ITRC
has learned through trial and error as we work to
fine-tune the process.
