Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition
Systems (SCADA) have become a valuable tool for
irrigation districts and other water users, allowing
more accurate, fast, and reliable water service. A
wide variety of SCADA options are now available, from
providing simple remote monitoring capabilities, to full
automatic control of canal and water delivery systems.
ITRC is available to guide districts through every
step of the process, including offering short courses
and other training programs for operators, performing
radio availability tests, designing the system, creating
the unique algorithm for the Programmable Logic
Controllers (PLCs), and working with the integrator
through the programming and troubleshooting phases.
ITRC makes its SCADA recommendations based on:
- Applicability and practicality of a SCADA system in each individual situation
- Type of SCADA system needed
- Costs of equipment, installation, and maintenance
With each recommendation, ITRC supplies the district with a set of specifications and step-by-step guidelines to aid the district in selecting an appropriate system, purchasing equipment, selecting an integrator, and implementing the chosen program. ITRC has also developed a guide for integrators of SCADA systems. ITRC is committed to ensuring that each district is thoroughly satisfied with its SCADA system.
