Highlights
In 1983, ITRC began work with the California Dept. of Water Resources to develop standardized procedures for the evaluation of on-farm irrigation systems. Since that time, DWR has sponsored two short courses annually at Cal Poly to teach the principles of irrigation evaluation. These short courses have been significant in California because they provide standardized training and software for the improvement of efficiency and uniformity of irrigation systems. The software has been updated annually according to changes in irrigation practices and feedback from users.
The program package was specifically designed to provide a relatively rapid global assessment of operating irrigation systems. For most systems, an evaluation can typically be completed with 0.5 to 2.0 person-days.
