International Training Workshop on Irrigation Modernization, Management Improvement, and Benchmarking

Highlights

A 10-day training workshop was conducted for staff members of the Philippines National Irrigation Administration (NIA) in cooperation with the NIA, World Bank Irrigation Institutions Window, and Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific.

Modernization of irrigation institutions, management and infrastructure are major priorities for the NIA as part of the Philippines Water Vision 2025. The training workshop was designed to assist the NIA in quickly identifying and prioritizing specific modernization options that will provide cost-effective improvements in project performance. Participants in the workshop gained hands-on experience with diagnosing project performance through actual fieldwork and developed a practical modernization plan with both short-term and long-term options.
